Kennel Attendant
Each morning and evening the shelter must be cleaned thoroughly. Each cage is sterilized and bedding and litter are changed. Kibble and water bowls are refilled and wet food is served.
Individually, each cat is let out so you can play with them, brush them, and give them lots of love and affection.
Volunteers who wish to be Kennel Attendants should be available at least one morning or evening every week for at least 2 hours. Wouldn't you love to start or end your day helping shelter cats?
Adoption Events
Only available weekends? Volunteers are needed to help staff the adoption events on Saturdays and Sundays. Whether you can help out for a few hours one day or assist us through the entire weekend, all help is welcome!
Volunteers assistant with setting up and taking down the temporary kennels, making sure each kitty has food, water, a bed, etc., helping those interested in adopting, and other tasks as needed.
Foster Care
Cats and kittens are placed in foster homes until ready for adoption. Animals that are ill or injured or have special needs are also fostered. They may stay for a day or for several weeks.
A foster home must be able to provide a safe, warm place for the cat or kitten to live. They need lots of human contact to help develop confidence and social skills. Foster parents are responcible for the transportation to and from adoption events, and to the vet if needed (vet costs are paid by Cats in Need).
In spring and summer many additional foster homes are needed to care for the hundreds of litters of kittens we rescue each year.
